Description

The Municipality of Humpata is located in the southern part of the province. It is bordered to the north by the municipality of Lubango, to the east by the municipality of Chibia, to the south by the municipality of Virei, and to the west by the municipality of Bibala. It consists solely of the commune of Humpata. With an altitude of 1,937 meters, the municipality of Humpata has great tourism potential. It was one of the areas where the first settlers established themselves, precisely because of the region’s natural beauty. Humpata is also a land of excellence in fruit growing, particularly known for the production of strawberries and citrus fruits.

Norton de Matos House - Characterized by an English-style wooden residence, the first built with this material in Huíla Province. It is located inside the Agricultural Experimental Station, supported by a concrete pillar base.
Boer Cemetery - Characterized by a cemetery where we can find a pyramid in the Boer style as well as graves with dates indicating approximately the period when the Boer people lived in the Humpata region.
Tchivinguiro Agricultural Regents School - Designed by architect Vasco Regaleira, it is a reference institution in the country (associated with the Tchivinguiro Church and Mission, both dating from 1892).
“ONDIMBA” Caves - Located in the Municipality of Humpata, in the locality of Tchivinguiro. The word "Ondimba" means in the Nyaneka national language a fissure in limestone mountains, open cracks with a hill on top. For a long time, it was believed that there was a great treasure there, which seems to be only a treasure of hope. These stories spread especially during the period of strong Portuguese settlement.
Tchivinguiro Catholic Mission - Characterized by a Mission where several people stayed as boarders, including leaders. In addition to the Catholic Church, old lime kilns and a cemetery can still be found there.
Leba Waterfall - Characterized by a waterfall where the waters run over the rocks forming a lagoon that allows tourists to bathe.
Leba Viewpoint - Characterized by a viewpoint that allows visibility of the mountain ranges with the Leba road built through them, as well as views of waterfalls formed by a curtain of water, creating a cascade.
Alto Bimbe Fissure - The Bimbe Fissure is one of the five escarpment formations that make up the geological park bordering the Huíla plateau, another magical place in Huíla Province.
