The municipality of Caconda is located to the north of the Province of Huíla, bordered to the north by the municipalities of Ganda and Longonjo, to the east by the municipalities of Chipindo and Caála, to the south by the municipality of Chicomba and to the west by the municipality of Caluquembe.

It has a total population of 167,820 inhabitants. Caconda is an ethnic mosaic, where Umbundu and Tchokwe communities stand out. As for economic activity, it is necessary to consider in general the creation of livestock of various species, cultivation of cereals, legumes, tubers, fruit crops, horticultural crops in addition to formal and informal trade.
The Municipality was created in 1857, being its headquarters, one of the oldest cities of the country. Its proximity and relationship with the province of Huanbo makes Caconda an important commercial warehouse
