The Municipality of Caluquembe is located in the North of the Province of Huíla. It is limited to the North by the municipality of Ganda, to the East by the municipalities of Caconda, Chicomba and Matala, to the South by the municipality of Quipungo and to the West by the municipalities of Cacula, Quilengues and Chongoroi.

It has a total population of 179,931 inhabitants. With the access roads rehabilitated, Caluquembe is currently a center for ethnic meetings, where people from all over the region travel. Due to its geographical position, Caluquembe is currently the third largest trade center in the province, agriculture and particularly cereal production, makes this municipality one of the centers of agricultural development in Huíla.
Highlight for the Hospital da Missão de Caluquembe, one of the largest Hospital Units in the province. The Municipality has excellent natural conditions for coffee production.
