Although it was created in 1938, under the name of Escola Agro-Pecuária da Huíla (initially called Escola Agro-Pecuária Dr. Francisco Vieira Machado), the first stone of the building was only laid in 1942, and only in 1957 did the Escola de Agricultural Regents.

In June 1980 it became known as the Tchivinguiro Agricultural School Complex and subsequently, until today, the Institute of Agricultural and Veterinary Sciences.
