The Ondimba cave, in the town of Tchivinguiro, municipality of Humpata, province of Huíla, has a project for its tourism, whose financing will come from companies Italian women settled in Angola, through mediation by the Transalpine Embassy.
This is a project that emerged with the visit of the former minister counselor of the Italian embassy in Angola, Giuseppe Boccuzzo, on site, in 2022, which is being coordinated by the tourist promotion and entertainment agency “Tac Tour”, initiative that is under study.
The cave has no scientific studies on its geological formation and with research in the area of speleotourism (tourist exploration of caves) new data will be revealed about its history.
The touristification of the cave, in addition to studies, includes an extension lighting system, a trail to prevent people get lost, the signage of stopping points, the construction of a camping and caravan site, bungalows, among other equipment, including all material necessary for adventure tourism.
In statements to ANGOP, today, Friday, in this city, regarding the matter, the person responsible for Tac Tour, Carlos Bumba, said he was working with experts in geology, archaeology, biology and hydrology, waiting for a speleologist Portuguese, who is about to arrive in Angola this year to complete the work.
He explained that as soon as the specialist arrives in Angola, priority will be given to the Tchivinguiro cave, but as there is no study about others in the country, it will already carry out an extensive assessment of Sassa (Cuanza Sul), Cabo Ledo (Luanda), Zau Evua (Zaire) and Nzenzo (Uíge).
He stated that the idea is to create a twinning between the Tchivinguiro cave and the already worked caves in Italy, so that the the experience of each of them and thus place Humpata on the international tourism route.
“The cave is one of the few in the world that brings together other types of tourism and thereby empowers the community, values the space, elevates the knowledge of those who visit, the local community and promotes the development of the area’’, he added.
Carlos Bumba highlighted that only after in-depth scientific study will it be possible to present a budget plan, so that the Italian embassy can support twinning and tourism work, with the sponsorship of Italian companies.
Justified the choice of Huíla to begin the work, due to there being studies by a Portuguese archaeologist who identified close to 80 unexplored caves in the province.
The cave, located in Tchivinguiro, close to Serra da Leba, 45 kilometers from the municipal headquarters of Humpata, is a of the "natural wonders" of Huíla, characterized by a mountain with some perforations that constitute the aforementioned caves, with galleries inside and a lake located in the front of the cave.
