Every year, since 1902, the city of Lubango has been the stage for the iconic Festas da Nossa Senhora do Monte, which take place during the month of August.
This tradition, which originates from religious manifestations, is celebrated by Huilana society in an effusive way with various attractions, with emphasis on socio-economic, religious, cultural and sporting activities.
For the 122nd edition/2024, the order of events will not deviate from the rule, but with quality and number of activities in an increased dimension, to provide the Hundreds of visitors who at this time visit the city of Lubango to enjoy the unique moments that traditional festivals of Nossa Senhora do Monte reserve.
FRAMEWORK AND OBJECTIVES
In addition to their historical role, the August festivities in Lubango are an identity icon of the capital Huíla and the province, in socio-cultural and economic diversity, aiming to present to Angola and the world, the cultural, tourist and economic potential that Huíla overall reserve.
Expo Huíla, the Agro-Livestock Fair and the Procession to the Chapel of Nossa Senhora do Monte, Patroness of the city, the Huíla 200km Motor Racing Race and the election of Miss Huíla are the highlights of the festivities.
In recent years, to these activities considered central, others of cultural, sporting and recreational nature have been added.
