Lubango – Foreign and national tourists who participated in the 1st Angola International Climbing Festival expressed the need to further publicize the country's "immense" tourist potential, as well as promote inclusive and attractive packages.Speaking at the end of the event that took place from the 16th to the 25th of the current month, Brazilian tourist, Frederico Lemos, who was in Huíla for the first time, said that the country's “natural beauties” are still not sufficiently explored, lacking more publicity.
The climber, also a 10-year-old climber, declared that if there is more information about the potential and greater publicity on platforms, in an official and safe way, there will be more people from abroad coming to Angola, as “the places are beautiful”.
He highlighted that tourism in Angola is still expensive, which is why packages need to be more accessible for everyone, not only for international tourists, but, above all, for nationals, as they are the general public that values its potential.
“The experience was incredible, a wonderful place, it has wonderful waterfalls and it is difficult to find a place as beautiful as this, and with the opportunity to climb, it became more interesting”, he said.
For Chilean, Luis Birkner, there is a need to improve the offers of places where tourists can stay in the camping mode, as the potential exists in the country, it just needs more conditions and publicity to attract more tourists.
As for the North American, Nathan Cahill, it is still necessary to work on Government support for tourism in the country and in particular for this type of adventure sport, as the natural infrastructure for this purpose already exists.
He reinforced that the wonders of the country, in particular Huíla, will be more publicized after the festival, so that in future editions, they can bring more tourists to the event, not only to go climbing, but to take advantage of more of the local potential.
On the same path, the Angolan, Raul do Rosário, an amateur climber, stressed that it is a sport that challenges the integrity and courage of each person, hence people's interest in doing it.
Seeing these people from different parts of the world, who do the sport out there, as well as the training of new climbers, will be good for our tourism”, said the also actor.
He warned of the need for everyone to become more aware of preserving collective heritage, so that more and more tourists can visit the spaces.
The 1st Angola International Climbing Festival featured 40 climbers from 18 countries, including Angola. During the event, slacklining, bolting workshops, route development, climbing classes, search and rescue workshops, among other activities, were held. EM/MS
