O turismo internacional continua a recuperar da crise pandémica e o número de chegadas alcançou entre janeiro e julho 84% do nível anterior à pandemia, segundo dados da Organização Mundial do Turismo (OMT) divulgados esta terça-feira, dia 19. O Médio Oriente, a Europa e a África lideram a recuperação, com a OMT a prever que no final de 2023 se alcance entre 80% a 95% dos níveis pré-pandémicos.
Desde o início do ano, 700 milhões de turistas fizeram viagens internacionais, 43% mais que no mesmo período de 2022.
Julho foi o mês mais movimentado com 145 milhões de viajantes internacionais registados, cerca de 20% do total.
Todas as regiões registaram taxas de recuperação significativas nestes sete meses.
A Europa alcançou 91% dos níveis pré-pandemia, com uma sólida procura dentro da região e dos Estados Unidos.
O Médio Oriente registou os melhores resultados entre janeiro e julho, com um volume de chegadas 20% acima dos níveis pré-pandemia, sendo a única região que até agora supera os níveis de 2019.
Por sua vez, África recuperou 92% do número de visitantes registado antes da crise e a América 87%, de acordo com os dados disponíveis.
Na Ásia e no Pacífico, a recuperação acelerou para 61% dos níveis pré-pandemia, após a abertura de muitos destinos.
De acordo com a OMT, o turismo internacional segue a caminho de alcançar em 2023 entre 80% e 95% dos níveis registados antes da crise.
As perspetivas até ao fim do ano apontam para uma recuperação contínua, mas a um ritmo mais moderado, depois da temporada alta de viagens no período entre junho e agosto.
