No dia 27 setembro 2023, celebra-se o Dia Mundial do Turismo.A Organização Mundial de Turismo (OMT) escolhe como tema para o corrente ano Turismo e Investimentos Verdes - uma das principais prioridades para a recuperação do turismo, crescimento e desenvolvimento futuros. A OMT destaca a necessidade de mais investimentos direcionados para as pessoas, para o planeta e para a prosperidade, salientando a importância de encontrar soluções inovadoras que promovam e sustentem o crescimento económico e a produtividade, convergindo para as metas da sustentabilidade. Por outro lado, este dia visa salientar a imprescindibilidade da realização de investimentos que beneficiem as pessoas (apostando na educação e competências), o planeta (incidindo em infraestruturas sustentáveis e acelerando a transformação ecológica) e a prosperidade (promovendo a inovação, a tecnologia e o empreendedorismo). O Dia Mundial do Turismo 2023 faz um apelo à comunidade internacional, aos governos, instituições financeiras multilaterais, parceiros de desenvolvimento e investidores do setor privado, no sentido de todos se unirem em torno de uma nova estratégia de investimento em turismo.
