Lubango wins award for best municipality in Angola

The event, held on the sidelines of the 10th Forum of Municipalities and Cities of Angola, featured several categories.

The municipality of Lubango (Huíla) won category A, taking home 100 million kwanzas, and Tômbwa (Namibe) won category B, taking home 90 million.
In category C, the municipality of Catabola (Bié) won, which received 80 million kwanzas, and in D the municipality of Dala (Lunda-Sul) won, collecting 70 million kwanzas. The first category awards were presented by the Minister of State and head of the Civil House of the President of the Republic, Adão de Almeida.

Incentive

At the ceremony, the Minister of Territorial Administration, Dionísio da Fonseca, said that the award is an incentive for what still needs to be done.
"It is an invitation to adopt good management practices and transform the lives of our populations daily and positively”, he said.
The municipal administrator of Lubango, winner of the grand prize, told Jornal de Angola that winning the award is recognition of the work that has been done to resolve the population's problems.
Lisender André highlighted that the 100 million kwanzas will serve to reinforce urban development areas.
The "Best Municipality” award in Angola was established under Presidential Decree No. 166/23, of August 4, 2023.
