Why leave the capital?

Art and culture are fundamental to the development of a society, and it is essential that they be promoted equally in all provinces.
Unfortunately, the capital often ends up being the center of attention, overlooking talent emerging in other parts of the country.
The 12th Edition of LiterArte - OVATYILONGO will therefore be held in Lubango to showcase new, emerging artists from the province of Huíla.
"Exhortação" by poet, writer, and historian Jorge Arrimar is the inspiring poem of the 14 artists who accepted the challenge of LiterArte's leadership and partners.

Jorge Manuel de Abreu Arrimar was born in Chibia, Huíla, Angola, in 1953. In the 1970s, he created the Huíla Cultural Group (Grucuhuíla) with friends.
He studied at the Faculty of Arts and Humanities. from the University of Luanda, having completed a degree in History and specializing in Documentary Sciences.
The artist won the DSTAngola/Camões Literature Prize for his novel "Cuéle – O Pássaro Troçador" in 2024.
