The challenge was launched during the presentation of the second edition of the Innovation and Environmental Technology Award, “PITA”, is a initiative by Omuenho-Consultoria & Tecnologias Ambientais, the winner of which will be announced in February 2025.
The objective is to recognize and reward young Angolans who take advantage of their talent for the development of Technologies, Projects and Initiatives that, in addition to protecting the environment, address the socio-environmental problems found in Angola.
On the occasion, the person responsible highlighted that by investing in the development of projects of this nature, it will be demonstrating its commitment to environmental preservation and the country’s sustainable development.
Tânia dos Santos stated that the Cabinet is pleased to receive and support the official presentation of PITA, as the initiative plays an essential role in promoting science, research, culture and technological innovation, “indispensable” elements for sustainable development.
He said he hopes that young people accept the challenge and are represented, contributing to practical solutions to problems environmental and social aspects of the country.
In turn, the representative of PITA, Josemar Sebastião, highlighted that the award is a project of national dimension, which aims to target audience young Angolans aged 15 and over who develop environmental technological projects of an individual or collective.
He highlighted that with this award they want to offer young people the opportunity to professionalize in the area and achieve a once impossible dream, as well as the materialization of projects for social benefit.
To this end, he explained, competitors must present environmentally friendly, low-cost and high-performance engineering projects. social utility on illegible topics, such as “Zero Hunger: sustainable agriculture”, “Clean and affordable energy”, “Cities and sustainable communities”, “Life in Water and Life on Land”, “Drinking Water and Sanitation”, “Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure”.
The winner will receive a prize of one million Kwanzas.
In addition to the cash prize, the winners will receive scholarships, technician for six months and “smart” cell phones.
The First Edition of the Environmental Innovation and Technology Award (PITA) took place in January this year, with the participation of participation of 43 projects, only 20 of which met the selection requirements for the next stage.
