Government of Huíla plans to launch a new Tourist Map.

The project aims to provide visitors with essential information about the territory's main attractions.
This represents another step in enhancing and promoting its tourism potential, as the new map will be made available in two complementary versions, in a project developed by the Provincial Office for Culture and Tourism.

The first, a printed version, will allow visitors to quickly consult the province's main points of interest, integrating QR codes that will provide access to updated digital content.
At the same time, a digital version will also be made available, more interactive and dynamic, designed to provide users with a more comprehensive experience through Huíla's online tourism support platforms.

According to the Provincial Director for Culture and Tourism, Tiago Pinto, the project is part of the strategy that the local Government is implementing to consolidate Huíla as one of Angola's leading tourist destinations.
He added that in recent years, the province has experienced strong momentum in promoting its natural, cultural and historical heritage, establishing itself as a national benchmark in the enhancement and promotion of its tourism resources.

In an interview with the Hoteisangola.com portal, Tiago Pinto noted that this strategy is based on an integrated vision that combines promotion, capacity building and the organization of tourism information, creating better conditions to welcome visitors and support tourism sector operators.
He emphasized that throughout the current year, several initiatives have already been carried out with the main stakeholders in the tourism value chain, including travel agencies, tour guides, car rental companies, accommodation establishments, restaurants and other partners.
According to the Provincial Director, these initiatives have strengthened coordination among the various operators, promoted dialogue and created new opportunities for collaboration in the sustainable development of provincial tourism.

Tiago Pinto pointed out that another important milestone of the strategy was the implementation of training activities for municipal technicians, carried out within the framework of the support provided by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
According to the interviewee, the training focused on inventory methodologies, field surveys and the documentation of tourism heritage, equipping municipalities with technical tools that enable them to systematically identify, catalogue and update their tourism resources.

Itineraries and Guided Tours

The Director observed that this work will contribute to the creation of an increasingly comprehensive and reliable database on the province's tourism potential, allowing for better information management and more effective promotion of the various destinations and experiences available throughout the territory.
Tiago Pinto also stated that the future tourism map therefore represents another stage in the process of modernizing Huíla's tourism information, establishing a direct connection between the printed format and digital platforms, where visitors will be able to find updated content, itineraries, useful contacts, the location of the main attractions and other relevant information for planning their trip.

"The Provincial Office for Culture and Tourism will continue to implement this strategy in close collaboration with public institutions, private partners and tourism operators, with new promotional, capacity-building and awareness initiatives planned over the coming months.", he said.

The province already has a tourism map created in 2004, which is now considered outdated in the current context.

May 18 - International Museum Day

May 18 is celebrated worldwide as International Museum Day.
Every year, the International Council of Museums (ICOM), a UNESCO-affiliated organization, establishes the guidelines that should direct all activities marking this occasion in every corner of the planet.

The main objective of a museum is to safeguard and preserve historical and cultural heritage of global or local importance.
Museums carry out scientific studies necessary for understanding and establishing the significance and ownership of this heritage.
In this sense, museums contribute to generating a global ethic based on the practice of conserving, protecting, and promoting the values of cultural heritage.

The theme for International Museum Day in 2026 is:

"Museums Bridging a Divided World"

The theme was announced by the International Council of Museums and highlights the role of museums as spaces for:
dialogue, inclusion, peace, unity among cultures and communities, and the preservation of collective memory.

This year's proposal seeks to show that, in a world marked by conflicts, inequalities, and polarization, museums can help bring together people, generations, and different societies.
The educational mission of a museum, regardless of its nature, is just as important as its scientific mission.
Museums are also places where the relationship between culture and nature is demonstrated, and there is a growing number of museums focusing their interests on science, nature, and technology.
In Angola, the National Museum of Natural History (created on September 8, 1943) is a public institution of a scientific nature.

Its fundamental objective is the research, classification, conservation, and inventory of Angolan biodiversity.
It presents permanent and temporary exhibitions on various aspects related to environmental conservation and biodiversity management.

International Museum Day reminds us that preserving memory is essential to understanding the past, valuing the present, and building the future.

Tourism in Huíla: training of staff gains new dynamics in the municipalities

Hoteisangola.com had the privilege of participating in the Training of Staff in the Tourism Sector in the province of Huíla, an initiative promoted by the Provincial Government, through the Provincial Office of Culture and Tourism, with the support of UNDP and participation
Hoteisangola.com had the privilege of participating in the Training of Personnel in the Tourism Sector of the Huíla province, an initiative promoted by the Provincial Government through the Provincial Office of Culture and Tourism, with the support of UNDP and the participation of Hotour.

After the initial session, the training program continued throughout the week, strengthening its presence in the territory and the direct involvement of the municipalities.

Expansion of training across the territory

During this week, training activities took place in different municipalities, namely:

Monday: Matala
Wednesday: Caluquembe
Thursday: Quilenges

This decentralized model made it possible to deliver technical knowledge directly to the territories, promoting closer engagement with local stakeholders and a more realistic understanding of the needs of each municipality.

Quilengues as an example of commitment to tourism

Among all the sessions held, the municipality of Quilengues clearly stood out for the way it hosted and enhanced the training.

The local administration played an active and differentiating role, ensuring a more dynamic and practical approach, namely through:

Direct involvement of local cultural groups
Organization of visits to tourist points of interest
Integration of training with the concrete reality of the territory

It is also important to highlight that this was the only municipality where both the Administrator and the Deputy Administrator were directly involved in the entire process, demonstrating a level of commitment that is uncommon in the current context of the sector.

A positive signal for the sector

In a context where tourism is often still not seen as a priority at the local administration level, the example of Quilengues is particularly relevant.

It shows that when there is leadership, vision, and institutional involvement:

Tourism gains real expression in the territory
Training becomes more practical and effective
Local stakeholders feel more engaged

This positioning goes against a still existing trend in several municipalities, where the tourism sector is often sidelined or undervalued.

Results-oriented training

During the sessions, a practical and strategic approach was reinforced, focused on:

Identifying local opportunities
Enhancing existing tourism resources
Structuring concrete tourism products

Hoteisangola's participation contributed with a market-oriented perspective, bringing training concepts closer to the operational reality of the sector.

Conclusion

The continuation of these training sessions throughout the week reinforces a fundamental idea: the development of tourism begins in the territory and with people.

The example of Quilengues demonstrates that, with institutional involvement and strategic vision, it is possible to transform training actions into real moments of local tourism activation.

More than training, it is about mobilizing, structuring, and creating real conditions for tourism in the Huíla province to grow in a consistent and sustainable way.

Huíla in the Spotlight: The Potential of one of the Most Complete Destinations in Angola

The province of Huíla returned to the center of attention in the tourism sector with another session of the “Let's Get to Know Angola” program, promoted by Hoteisangola.com.

The province of Huíla has once again taken center stage in the tourism sector with the holding of another session of the program “Let’s Get to Know Angola”, promoted by Hoteisangola.com. The meeting brought together tour operators, travel agents, public entities, and hotel units, with the aim of strengthening the promotion and structuring of the destination.

Huíla stands out for the diversity of its offerings: from iconic natural landscapes such as the Serra da Leba and the Tundavala, to cultural experiences with local communities and adventure activities. This combination positions the province as one of the most complete destinations in Angola.

Despite its strong potential, important challenges were identified, such as the need to improve access routes, strengthen training in the sector, and better structure tourism products. Even so, several initiatives are underway, including the creation of itineraries, tourist signage, and operator training.

One of the highlights was the presentation of the Mumba Lodge, an example of nature-based tourism and immersive experience, reinforcing the growing demand for distinctive tourism products.

The meeting also highlighted the importance of integrating Huíla with other regions, such as Namibe and Cubango, creating more complete and attractive itineraries for the market.

Huíla does not need more potential — it needs organization, promotion, and stronger connections between tourism stakeholders.

Lubango reinforces tourism in Angola with an internationally certified hospital.

Hospital Central achieves quality certification and enhances tourism in Huíla
The quality of healthcare services is increasingly becoming one of the determining factors in choosing a tourist destination. In this context, the recent international quality certification awarded to Lubango represents a significant step in strengthening the confidence of national and international visitors who choose to explore southern Angola.
The Lubango Central Hospital – DR. ANTÓNIO AGOSTINHO NETO, has achieved international recognition for its standards of quality, clinical safety, and hospital organization. This milestone contributes not only to the improvement of local medical care, but also to consolidating the region as a safer and more reliable tourist destination.

Modern tourism is closely linked to the availability of high-quality essential services, among them medical assistance. The presence of an internationally certified hospital in Lubango increases the confidence of tourists, tour operators, and investors who see the region as a destination that is increasingly well prepared.

Medical tourism: an emerging opportunity in Angola

International certification also opens space for the gradual development of so-called medical tourism in Angola. Increasingly, travelers seek destinations where they can combine leisure, recovery, and access to reliable medical services.
With an internationally recognized hospital unit, Lubango strengthens its potential to receive visitors who value destinations with modern health infrastructures, well organized and aligned with international standards.

Economic impact and confidence for investors

Beyond the direct impact on the health sector, the hospital’s certification represents a positive signal for regional economic development. Tourist destinations that offer guarantees of qualified medical assistance become more competitive in the international travel market.
This confidence supports the growth of different sectors linked to tourism, including hospitality, restaurants, transport, and event organization. By strengthening the destination’s health security, Lubango positions itself strategically to receive a growing flow of visitors.

Huíla: nature, culture and now greater safety for visitors

Known for its impressive landscapes, mild climate, and cultural richness, the province of Huíla is increasingly consolidating itself as one of the most complete tourist destinations in Angola. The presence of an internationally certified hospital adds a fundamental element to the visitor experience: peace of mind and confidence.
For those planning to explore the south of the country—whether on adventure trips, leisure travel, or business—knowing that there is a reference hospital unit in Lubango reinforces the perception of safety and quality of the destination.
Thus, the certification of the Lubango Central Hospital represents not only an advancement for the Angolan healthcare system, but also an important contribution to strengthening the image of Angola as a modern tourist destination, prepared and increasingly competitive within the African panorama.

Lubango, Huíla – The “Let’s Get to Know Angola” program, promoted by Hoteisangola.com in coordination with the Provincial Directorate of Tourism of Huíla, brought together today, in the meeting room of Hotel Chik Chik, tour operators, travel agents, hoteliers, and tour guides, in a working session marked by a dynamic, critical, and solution-oriented approach.

The meeting was also attended by HOTOUR – Association of Tourism Promoters and Operators – and the Provincial Directorate of Tourism, led by Tiago Pinto, reinforcing the institutional and collaborative nature of the initiative.

Direct dialogue and identification of challenges

The discussion took place in an open and incisive manner, and several structural and operational challenges that still constrain the full development of the Huíla destination were identified. Among the main points discussed were:

The need for greater coordination between guides, hotel units, tour operators, and the restaurant sector

The lack of structured information about the services provided by tour guides

The importance of creating integrated packages that enhance complete and differentiated experiences

It became clear that the sustainable growth of the destination depends on mutual understanding among the various stakeholders in the sector: guides need to better understand the hotel reality, hotels should integrate guide itineraries into their commercial strategy, and the restaurant sector must align with the dynamics of the tourism offer.

Guides commit to organization and structuring

One of the central moments of the meeting was the intervention of the tour guides present, who represent a significant diversity of offerings:

Guides specialized in trails and nature routes

Guides operating interprovincial itineraries

Guides dedicated to community-based experiences and interaction with local tribes

It was unanimously recognized that there is still limited formal promotion of the work carried out by these professionals. In this regard, the guides committed to organizing themselves in a more structured manner, identifying routes, challenges, and concrete implementation proposals.

It was agreed that around March 20, a new meeting will be held exclusively dedicated to presenting the results of this work, with the objective of:

Officially cataloging guides and their respective itineraries

Identifying mechanisms for formalization and recognition

Integrating this information into a digital promotion platform

The intention is for these professionals to be properly identified and organized, with their tourism products available on a platform accessible to the public, travel agents, and tour operators.

Special packages for June and July

The hotel units present also committed to developing special promotional packages for the months of June and July, creating a coordinated communication campaign focused on the province of Huíla.

The objective is clear:

Strengthen the promotion of the destination

Increase occupancy rates

Stimulate the consumption of complementary services beyond accommodation and catering

This integrated strategy aims to position Huíla as a structured, competitive destination with a diversified offer, leveraging natural, cultural, and community resources.

A firm step in consolidating the Huíla destination

The “Let’s Get to Know Angola” program thus reaffirms itself as a platform for boosting national tourism, promoting dialogue among the different stakeholders in the sector and encouraging the creation of practical and collaborative solutions, with the first presentation scheduled for March 17 via the Zoom platform.

The meeting held in Lubango demonstrates that there is willingness, commitment, and strategic awareness among local operators. The next step will be to transform this alignment into measurable results capable of consolidating Huíla as one of the leading destinations in southern Angola.
